100% clean energy

From increasing wildfires and hurricanes to rollbacks of key environmental protections like the clean car standards and the Clean Power Plan, voters will be keeping climate, clean air and water, and clean energy in mind as they head to the voting booths in November because the Trump administration has not stopped attacking those vital things.

Our elected officials are taking note and fighting for solutions -- including the goal of transitioning our economy to 100% clean energy. While their ideas may vary, many in Congress have already voiced their support for this benchmark idea, including Sanders (I-VT), Markey (D-MA), Merkley (D-OR), Booker (D-NJ), Schatz (D-HI), Cardin (D-MD), Van Hollen (D-MD), and Heinrich (D-NM),  just to name a few.

This November, we can add to their strength by voting for candidates who know we need to switch to 100% clean energy to protect our air, water, and climate. Candidates like Ilhan Omar, Randy Bryce, and Deb Haaland all know that we need to leave fossil fuels behind.

  • Omar is running for Congress in Minnesota’s fifth congressional district in Minneapolis. She not only supports a 100% clean energy economy but completely zero waste communities as well.
  • Bryce is running for Congress in Wisconsin’s first congressional district in southeastern Wisconsin. He supports a quick transition to 100% clean energy economy and wants to get the U.S. back into the Paris agreement to get our planet back on track.
  • Haaland is running for Congress in New Mexico’s first congressional district in Sante Fe and Albuquerque. She supports a 100% clean energy economy because not only is it right for our planet but she knows that solar power will bring good jobs to New Mexico.

2018 is a landmark year for candidates backing 100% clean energy -- and the Sierra Club is proud to stand with these leaders who are pushing an aggressive 100% stance. Click here to find Sierra Club endorsed candidates in your district who will work to transition our economy to 100% clean energy.
